Our first week here in South Africa has been nothing short of incredible.
We have already learned so much from the locals in the village and from the missionaries we are blessed to serve alongside. Every conversation, every shared meal, every moment of fellowship has deepened our understan
ding of what God is doing here.
One of our favorite memories so far was taking a fun walk with the boys a big marula tree where we had a picnic and played cards together. It was simple, joyful, and full of laughter — the kind of afternoon that reminds you how meaningful ordinary moments can be.
On Sunday, we attended church — though not without a little adventure! We got a flat tire on the way, which turned part of the trip into a short and memorable walk. Church itself was a beautiful time of worship, preaching, and Bible study. Even in a different place, worshipping together reminds us how connected the body of Christ truly is.
We also had movie night out on the veranda and have spent so much sweet time in fellowship with the missionary family and other local friends. Community here is intentional and rich, and we are so grateful to be welcomed into it.
Morgan began teaching her first class for the Bible-based English as a Second Language course this week, and it was fantastic. It’s beautiful to see how eager the students are to learn English and work on proper pronunciation. The course is offered completely free to anyone in the village, with multiple time slots available throughout the full six weeks we are serving here. The hunger to learn is inspiring.
Brandon has begun discipleship training with a few of the local men. We first attended the conclusion of a Christology class, and now he is working through the “Sit, Walk, Stand” book and program with two men in the village. He’s also been teaching guitar lessons to the kids, and seeing their excitement has been such a gift.
We truly cannot wait to see what these six weeks will hold and what God continues to do during our time here. We have already witnessed His provision in so many ways.
We know God will provide, but it is such a beautiful thing to actually watch how He does it, and the special people He uses (often without them even realizing it).
